Our first winner of Artist of the Month is Jamal Hussain in Class 2P.  Jamal worked extremely hard in art and produced a lovely print.  He received his prize and certificate from Mr Corteen in assembly today and got lots of applause.  Well done Jamal!

Gallery Visits

Every Tuesday morning a class from Birchfields visits an art gallery with Mr Bradley (who teaches music), Mrs Maroulis (who teaches Art), a class teacher and a teaching assistant.  We look at lots of different types of art (sculpture, paintings, prints, mixed media and films). We make our own drawings, write about what we have seen and record our thoughts and sounds.  

The following day, we go into the media room and make a film relating to the artwork and our gallery visit. So far this term we have looked at a contemporary textile art exhibition called Cloth and Culture Now at the Whitworth Art Gallery and we have also looked art by Durer.  

We hope to show you photographs of our gallery visits very soon (when Mrs M works out how to do it!)

Artist of the Month

Hello all,

I’m looking forward to seeing the first pupil to be awarded Artist of the Month.  At the end of each month, a pupil will have his/her work displayed in the Media Room, on this website and they will also receive a prize of art materials.  If you think you have worked really hard with your artwork and it is of a high standard, ask your teacher to recommend you for Artist of the Month.
